Captivating audiences with her larger than life attitude and explosive performances, Ashleigh-Marie is a Canadian-South African singer-songwriter empowering listeners in a lonely world. Her songs pour out stories from her own life and the lessons she's learned along the way. Her sound is saturated in poetic lyricism and powerful vocals in a genre-blend of country, folk, pop, indie, and rock.
Raised in South Africa, Ash began her music career as "Ashcoustics" in the beautiful city of Cape Town and performed at a grassroots level across the nation for three years. Ready to take things to the next level, she self-funded her debut EP No More, along with a debut music video and a release launch event at the well-established Harrington's Cocktail Lounge in Cape Town. The release saw impressive traction for a first release, with multiple local and global press features/reviews, a nomination for Best Music Video at the South African Independent Film Festival, and a live showcase of the EP on the South African national broadcasting television show 'Expresso Show'.
After her debut, Ash set her sights on new horizons, packed up her life in South Africa and dedicated herself to music full-time in the Great White North, where she joined her family in Canada. She enrolled in a Music Business program at Durham College in Oshawa to gain deeper industry insights and has been taking Canada by storm ever since. Her debut Canadian show was held at the esteemed Horseshoe Tavern just months after her arrival, and she was selected to join the Canadian Musicians Co-Operative as an emerging artist over the summer of 2024.
During her first Canadian summer, Ash hosted acoustic brunch sessions every Sunday at Bond St. Events Centre and spent her time in the sunshine busking across the GTA and Durham Region. While collaborating with musicians in the Canadian Musicians Co-Operative, she formed a three-piece ensemble and performed on her first festival stage at Embody Fest in August 2024. Ending the season with a bang, she then performed a showcase concert with the Canadian Musicians Co-Operative at the Bradford Carrot Fest in Bradford and the ONXS Music Festival in Barrie.
After a year of self-discovery and artist development Ash found her calling, took on a new name and is currently writing a new record with a full band while dedicated to her music business studies.
She is a force to be reckoned with and is only just getting started.
