Ashleigh-Marie-06.jpg

Captivating audiences with enchanting performances, Ashleigh-Marie is a Canadian-South African singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist crafting emotionally rich, poetic songs rooted in acoustic guitar and controlled vocal power against an indie pop backdrop. Set to empower listeners in a lonely world, her music explores inner worlds, longing, and quiet intensity, blending intimacy with moments of cathartic release.

Raised in South Africa, Ashleigh-Marie began her music career under the name Ashcoustics, performing extensively across Cape Town’s grassroots music scene for three years. In 2023, she self-funded her debut EP "No More", accompanied by a debut music video and a release launch event at Harrington's Cocktail Lounge in Cape Town. The project received strong traction for a first release, earning local and international press coverage, a nomination for press features/reviews, a nomination for Best Music Video at the South African Independent Film Festival, and a live showcase of the EP on the South African national broadcasting television show 'Expresso Show'.

Following the release, Ashleigh-Marie relocated to Canada to pursue music full-time. Her first Canadian performance took place at Toronto’s historic Horseshoe Tavern, marking the beginning of an active year of shows across the GTA and Durham Region. During the summer of 2024, she hosted weekly acoustic brunch sessions at Bond St. Events Centre, held a Friday night residency at Boston Pizza, busked extensively, and was selected as an emerging artist with the Canadian Musicians Co-Operative.

That same year, she formed a three-piece ensemble while collaborating within the Co-Operative and made  her first Canadian festival appearance at Embody Fest, followed by showcase performances at Bradford Carrot Fest and ONXS Music Festival in Barrie.

After a year of artistic self-discovery, Ashleigh-Marie embraced a new chapter under her own name and is currently writing a new record that leans into simplicity, emotional density, and intentional restraint. Alongside her artistry, she works in music promotion at Modo-Live in Toronto, continuing to build a career rooted in both creative depth and industry understanding.
